Luke 12 Part 2

Be Prepared

Jesus continues to speak “Sell all you have and give to the needy. Your treasures should be what is in heaven, where no thief can steal or corrupt. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Always be ready. Whenever the weather turns to tornado-like situations, I make sure I’m dressed, things are ready to grab, and the storm shelter is prepared for whatever happens. That’s what Jesus is telling us. We are to be prepared for the master’s return. The lights need to be on. We need to be dressed and ready to serve in whatever capacity He needs. Paying attention to the messages in the darkness and being a Light for those who are lost and need shelter in order to be saved. Be watching. No matter what time of the day, be ready for the return of The Master. Protecting the home from thieves. Jesus tells us to “Be ye therefore ready also: for The Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.” We don’t know when He will come back. It is all supposition on our part.

Then Peter said to Jesus “Lord, did you tell this story for us or for all the people?” The Lord said, “Who is the wise and trusted servant? The master trusts one servant to give the other servants their food at the right time. Who is the servant that the master trusts to do that work? When the master comes and finds him doing the work he gave him, it will be a day of blessing for that servant!” “But for the servant that refuses to obey and make himself ready for the master's return, he will be sent away. He knew what he was supposed to do but didn’t care. But what about the servant who does not know what his master wants? He also does things that deserve the punishment. But he will get less punishment than the servant who knew what he should do. Whoever has been given much will be responsible for much. Much more is expected from him. We know better. Jesus tells us that He came to bring fire to the world; Judgment. But He said He had to go through a baptism first. This baptism was a baptism of suffering. He was referring to His death. He was ‘straitened’ which means that He was sorrowful, even to death; very troubled. “Do you think that I came to give peace to the world? No, I came to divide the world!” Families will be divided.

Jesus told the people “You understand the weather by the clouds and wind. Why can’t you understand what is happening right now? You hypocrites!”

Yes, Lord. Show us the Truth. He continues “You know right from wrong. Why can’t you figure this out? Settle it now before you get before the judge and he throws you in jail.  “I tell thee, thou shall not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.”

Be Prepared!
