 Are you Listening?

Jesus teaches and preaches about sexual sin in the next few verses; Matthew 5:27-28

He says ‘you have heard that it was said ‘you must not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that if a man looks at a woman and wants to sin sexually with her, he has already committed that sin with her in his mind (or a woman to a man, or same-sex, etc to make it completely clear) If you thunk it, you done did it.

If your right eye makes you sin, take it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell. If your right-hand makes you sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. This was emphasized twice. This doesn’t literally mean that we need to cut out or pluck out our body parts. Jesus is making it crystal clear how dangerous living like that is.

So, what’s the big deal about sex anyway? The world will tell you that there is no big deal. You can have sex with whoever and whatever and even as young as you want in some evil circles. Let’s first define sexual sin: according to the Bible aka GOD’S WORD, He tells us straight out that there are boundaries for sex. He is The One Who introduced sex to begin with when He made Adam and Eve- a man and a woman. He joined them together in HOLY MATRIMONY and said It is very good. Marriage is a union to which the twain are to become as one, not three, not four, not other than male and female or other than consenting adults; Male and Female, married, as one. Anything outside of that union is a violation of what He has given us and a slap in His face. The church itself has become slack in teaching this truth and has begun accepting worldly choices as okay. God created sex not only to reproduce but to form a bond between husband and wife for their lifetime. Matthew 19:6 and Mark 10:9 reminds us of that with the wedding vows… what God has joined together let no man separate. Two but one flesh. Two people that love each other and are faithful to each other and honor God by marrying create a strong bond. Is it always perfect? Are they always in the honeymoon stage? No. But under the guidance of God and open communication with each other Love can grow stronger than anyone could ever imagine. That Love helps each other stay strong when the obstacles in life begin raining down upon them. This relationship is ultimately a gift from God. So, when those boundaries get crossed and the walls get broken and the lines are muddled and confused, we essentially pervert God’s plan and like I said basically, slap God in the face of what He has instituted for our good and break our covenant with each other and more importantly with God.

You either like it or not, believe it or not, but this is God’s Word, not mine. Unrepentant sin, sexual sin, or otherwise will yank you straight out of The Will of God.  Jesus is preaching some tough Truths in this Sermon.
