Bless The LORD at ALL Times
Scripture For The Day
November 28, 2023
"Bless The LORD at All Times"
Psalm 34- another
acrostic psalm. For historical reference, it goes along with 1 Samuel 21-22.
“I will Bless The LORD
at all times: His Praise shall continually be in my mouth.” -Psalm 34:1. David
struggled quite a bit, with circumstances, with depression, with people who
were against him. But it didn’t stop The LORD from using David. He gave David
the gift to write and David wrote many songs that were used for generations and
probably still today. Not everyone wanted to listen. Not everyone cared. But as
long as He was doing what The LORD called him to do; that’s what mattered. Continually
He Blessed The LORD with Praises- in the good and the bad. Humble people will
listen and be glad. My soul shall boast
in The LORD. Prideful people will not get it. O magnify The LORD with me, and
let us exalt His Name together. That’s what it’s about. Praising God! Not people!
David shares his desperation;
I sought The LORD, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears. When we
look unto God for help, He will put a smile on our lips. No need for shame.
David says as a poor, helpless man he prayed to The LORD, and The LORD heard
him. The LORD saved him from all his troubles. The LORD’s angel builds a camp
around His followers and protects them. Give the LORD a chance. O taste and
see that The LORD is GOOD: Blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. Reverence Him.
The prideful don’t seek God. What man doesn’t desire more life and to see good?
Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile (lies). Depart
from evil, and do good. SEEK PEACE, and PURSUE it. Vs 18 is a favorite of mine “The
LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a
contrite spirit” – The LORD is close to those who suffer disappointment. He
saves those who are discouraged. The LORD is there to help us, to save us, and to
encourage His children.
Are you feeling
discouraged this morning? Go to God! He will lift you up, dust you off, and set
you back where you need to be. Recognize that He can make a way when there
seems to be no way. Only the prideful refuse to acknowledge their wrongs.
Confess your sin. Ask forgiveness. Learn and Grow in Him. Dust the negativity and
opposition off your sandals and move on.
