Luke 8 Part 2

"Even the demons Know Who Jesus is" 

Jesus and His disciples got on a boat to get to the other side of a lake.  Jesus was worn out from His travels and ministry and soon fell asleep. Suddenly, a dangerous storm erupted and they knew their lives were in danger. Several of the disciples were fishermen, they recognized the dangers of this storm.  So, they went to Jesus; “Master, wake up, we are going to die” Jesus got up, rebuked the storm, and calmed the raging sea. Then He turned to them and asked “Where is your faith?” They went to Him for help but then they couldn’t help but be amazed at His Power that even the winds and water obey Him.

Soon they arrived in the Gadarenes. While there, they met a man possessed by devils. He was naked and lived in the graveyards. When he saw Jesus, the demon cried out and fell down before him, and with a loud voice “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please, don’t punish me!” Even the devils know who Jesus is.  Jesus asked the demon, ‘what is your name?” The man answered “Legion” because many demons were in the man. They begged Jesus to not send them to the bottomless pit but to send them into a herd of pigs nearby. So, He allowed that. But the pigs went berserk and ran down a hill into the lake and drowned. The men who cared for the pigs went and told everyone what had happened. Many who heard came to see Jesus and found the man who had previously been possessed. He was clothed and in his right mind. The people became afraid and told Jesus to leave. The man who Jesus had set free wanted to go with Jesus. But Jesus told him to go home and tell people what God had done for him and he did just that.

When Jesus and His disciples returned to Galilee people were waiting for Him. A man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house. His 12-year-old daughter was dying. There were so many people trying to get to Jesus, He was being pushed from all sides. A desperate woman, who had dealt with a sickness for 12  years, spent all she had on doctors, and had only one hope: Jesus. She came behind Jesus and touched the border of His garment and immediately she was healed. Jesus said “Who touched me?” no one said anything but Peter “Master, the crowd is huge and everyone is touching You. What do you mean?” Jesus said “Somebody has touched me for I felt Power go out of me. “when the woman realized she had been found out, she came to Jesus, trembling, and fell before Him and told Him all her troubles. Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. In the meantime, Jairus’ daughter had died. But Jesus told him not to worry she would be healed. At the house, Jesus only allowed Peter, James, and John to go in along with her parents. People were mourning and ridiculing Jesus saying nothing could be done. But Jesus went to her and took her by the hand “Maid, arise” and her spirit came back to her and she got up and Jesus made them give her something to eat. Her parents were amazed but Jesus told everyone not to say anything about what happened.
