"Everyone Needs that Alone Time With The Father"
“And
it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon Him to hear the Word of God,
He stood by the lake of Geneesaret, and saw two ships standing by the lake: but
the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
The fishermen had fished all night with nothing to show for it. They were giving up and working on their nets to get prepared for the next night of fishing. These ‘ships’ were actually fishing boats. Jesus stepped onto one of the boats, which was Simon’s and asked Simon to push out a little from the land. The people were crowding Jesus. Though He loved Him, He couldn’t minister to them properly. Jesus sat down in the boat and began to teach the people from the boat. Interesting fact, though I don’t know it needed to be done, water helps voices carry. Now when He was done speaking, He said unto Simon, go further into the deep and let your nets down. Simon Peter was a fisherman, he knew his job well and so he tried to explain to this ‘teacher’. “We have worked all night long and have taken in nothing. But I will do what you say and let the nets down.” And when they did that, the net became so heavy from the multitude of fish that it broke. See what can happen when we obey The Lord. When Simon Peter say this, he falls down at Jesus’ knees, saying “Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” He was amazed at the amount of fish they had taken in. And so were James, and John, the sons of Zebedee his fishing partners. And Jesus said unto Simon, “Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.” And when they brought their ships to land, they forsook all and followed Him.
And it came to pass, when He was
in a certain city, a man with leprosy, sought Jesus and fell on his face “Lord,
if You Will, I know You can cleanse me.” Jesus put out His hand, and touched
Him, saying, I will; Be Thou Clean. And immediately, the leprosy departed him.
And He told the man to tell no one but to go and show himself to the priest,
which was the custom to be marked clean. But this sort of thing couldn’t remain
quiet. Everyone once again heard about Jesus and Jesus withdrew himself into
the wilderness, and prayed. Jesus loves people. But there are times, He would
get peopled out and needed to withdraw into quiet prayer time. All of us need
to acknowledge that we can get peopled out and need to have that alone time
with The Father.
