It's All About Jesus
Scripture For The Day
December 3rd,

"It's All About Jesus!"
Why study the book of
Luke for Christmas? Because we not only get to see the importance of the leading of The Holy Spirit through speaking to different individuals, we also get to see The Life of Jesus on
earth- His Birth, Death and Resurrection. The fulfillment in His Mission-
Redeemer!
In Luke 3 we read about
The Baptism of Jesus as well as the lineage.
Now
we see John the Baptist living in the desert. He went all around the area near
the Jordan River and told the people about God’s message and to repent of their
sin and be baptized. He was preparing the way for Jesus as it was written in
Isaiah “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the
Lord, make His paths straight.” Salvation is for everyone. If the person chooses
to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Crowds
of people came to be baptized of John. But he rebuked them, because their hearts
hadn’t been changed. They just wanted a quick fix. Change your hearts! He cries
out to them. Just because Abraham is your forefather that won’t help you. He
tells them they have to change, and judgment was going to happen. And the people
in different stations of life began to ask him “Then what shall we do?”
Everyone was hoping the Messiah would soon
come to free them from the Roman Oppression and they wondered if John was Him.
John replied “I baptize you in water, but there is someone coming later Who is
able to do more than I can. I am not good enough to be the slave who unties His
sandals. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire…’
John
was bold with his preaching, and he criticized Herod the ruler for what he had
done with Herodias, his sister-in-law as well as other bad things. Herod ended
up putting John in jail. But this happens much later. Luke is giving us a
fuller picture of the life of John. But before he gets thrown in jail, he
baptizes Jesus.
People
were being baptized. Jesus came to be baptized too. And while He was praying,
the sky opened and The Holy Spirit, as a dove came down on Him. A Voice from
heaven (The Father) spoke “Thou art My Beloved Son: in Thee I am well pleased”
Another scripture showing that Jesus was and is The Only Begotten Son of God. Jesus began His fulltime ministry at 30 years
old. Luke 3 ends with giving a record of the line of King David leading to
Jesus.
Everything
falls into place. From the beginning of time, this was God’s plan in order to
reconcile us to Him. It’s ALL About Jesus!!! It's ALL About Love.
