"Jesus Increased in Wisdom and Stature" 

Okay, now we have had the intro. Let’s go back over Luke 2 and study a bit further into His Birth. This chapter contains a lot of information From in the womb to 12 years old and adult.  

Caesar Augustus sent out a decree that all the world should be taxed. Meaning all the countries that were under Roman rule. This census was designed to register young men for military service as well as for levying taxes.

Joseph and Mary left Nazareth and headed to Bethlehem, the city of David. This would have been a difficult journey. Mary was far along. It was more than 70 miles through mountains. Finally they arrived, they registered, and tried to find a place to stay. Soon, she gave birth to Jesus, her firstborn son. She wrapped him up in swaddling clothes (strips of cloth that were used to bind the baby tightly) The nurses teach swaddling of the baby to new parents in the hospitals today. She laid him in a manger (a feeding trough for animals) There was no room in the inn. People from all over had entered the city to be counted.

At the same time, there were shepherds in the field watching over their flock. When the angel of the Lord came upon them and the Glory of The Lord shone round them, they became afraid. But the angel says “Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” FEAR NOT! For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Christ means Messiah. This child, this babe is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Praise The Lord.

They were told to go find the babe. And as soon as the angel of The Lord got done speaking, he was joined by a multitude of the heavenly host Praising God saying “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward me.” Can you imagine? Can you picture the beauty of that scene? As soon as the angels departed the shepherds left to go see. They ran and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe. They were excited and shared the news with everyone. And Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. The scene skips to a couple months later at the appropriate time Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord. While there, they met up with a devout man of the faith, Simeon. The Holy Ghost was revealed to him that he wouldn’t die until he seen Christ. The same day, he was led by the Spirit to go to the temple and when Mary and Joseph walked in with Jesus, Simeon took him up in his arms and knew without a doubt this was The Messiah he was waiting for and could now die in peace.  Joseph and Mary marveled at everything that was said. While still there, a prophetess named Anna, quickly realized who Jesus was. And she shared the news with everyone. When Joseph and Mary had done everything according to the Law, they went back to Nazareth. The story skips from Jesus being a baby to 12 years old when his parents lost sight of him and was found teaching in the temple. But The Bible says He grew and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the Grace of God was upon them. And He increased in wisdom and God and the people loved and respected Him as he continued to grow.

Scripture For The Day    December 18 th , 2023 Luke 18 part 2 Shout Out to Jesus!  A religious leader asked Jesus, ‘Good Master (Teacher) what shall I do to inherit life?” Jesus tells him “Why do you call me good? Only God is good! And you know His commands…” The man tells Jesus that he has obeyed all those commands. Jesus tells him “But there is still one thing you need to do. Sell everything and give the money to the poor. Then you can follow me” Jesus knew this man’s heart. The man became sad. Jesus said, “It will be very hard for rich people to enter God’s Kingdom.”  That doesn’t mean wealthy people won’t go to heaven. This is a heart issue. Scripture For The Day   Luke 12 Part 1 "Consider The Lilies"  In the meantime, thousands of people had come together. So much so that they were stepping on each other. Jesus had just left a Pharisee’s house that was more concerned with ceremony than with a relationship with Him.
