Jesus Is My Rock!!!

Scripture For The Day

Jesus Is My Rock!!!

Jesus had been praying all night. And when it was day, He called His twelve disciples together and they came down the mountain. A great multitude of people from all over came to hear Jesus speak and to be healed. Even those with unclean spirits were seeking healing. The crowd sought to touch Jesus because word had spread that you would be healed if you just touched Him. Just one touch. While the crowd struggled to get closer to Him, Jesus locked eyes with His disciples and began Speaking.

Jesus’ Sermon on this Plateau/Plain involved four Beatitudes; Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day, for behold, your reward is in heaven. Next Jesus gives four countering woes.  Then He speaks even more Revolutionary ideas: “Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you, pray for them that use you. And if they hit you on one cheek, give them the other. If they steal your cloak, also give them your coat. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Big deal if you love those who love you. Sinners do that. Big deal if you do good to those who do good to you. Sinners do that. But love your enemies. Do good to them. Help them. And your reward shall be great. Be merciful. Judge not. Condemn not. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.’ Whew!

Jesus finished out the sermon with a parable; “Can the blind lead the blind? The disciple is not above his master. None of us are perfect. However; our hearts’ desire should be to be as near like Jesus as we possibly can. How dare we look down our noses at other people when we have our own problems and issues to deal with first? Jesus is telling us here how important it is to help each other; to encourage each other; to love each other. We don’t have to agree on everything and it’s a high probability we won’t. That’s why there are so many choices in this world. Just look at all the food options. We are all different. It doesn’t make you better than me, or me better than you. Vive le difference! But a good tree is going to bring forth good fruit and vice versa. We are known by our fruit. You can be as sweet talking as you want to be but The Lord looks at the heart of the matter. A good man will treasure good things in his heart, which will come out in one way or another. A wise man builds his house upon a rock and that rock's foundation must be with Jesus if it’s going to stand the test of time and the troubling storms that will beat against it from time to time.
