Joy in Heaven

Many tax collectors and sinners were drawn to listen to Jesus. But of course, this made the Pharisees and scribes, stick their noises in the air and complain even more. “Look at this man, he welcomes sinners and even eats with them!”  As usual, Jesus used this moment as a teaching opportunity and began sharing a parable. “Suppose one of you has 100 sheep, but one of them gets lost. What will you do? You are going to leave the 99 sheep right there in the field and go out and look for the lost sheep. You will search until you find it. And then when you find it you will be so happy that you will carry it home and gather your friends and neighbors and tell them to “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost” Jesus stops His parable and tells them that it is the same way when a sinner repents. There is much joy in heaven over that one sinner than over the 99 who are no more in need of repentance. This speaks to my heart so much. Jesus loves us so much that He will search for us high and low and then Rejoice when we repent and accept Him into our hearts.

Jesus continues; Suppose a woman having ten pieces of silver and loses one of them. She will take a light and clean the house and search carefully for that lost coin until she finds it. And when she finds it, she calls her friends and tells them to “Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece that was lost” Likewise, Jesus says, there is Joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents.

There is Joy in heaven over one sinner that repents. We should have that joy as well. Our goal should always be sharing His Love and Grace and teaching the Gospel. “For God so Loved the world that He gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that WHOSOEVER, believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life”

Luke and John each tell of a different time, with different women.  Luke tells us about a time in the home of Simon the Pharisee about a year before Jesus’ died on The Cross. What You Say Is True!

Scripture For The Day    December 23, 2023 – Luke 23 part 1 "What You Say Is True!"  And the whole multitude (The entire Sanhedrin (council) 70 men) arose and took Jesus to Pilate. Jesus had two trails (if you can call them that). One Jewish/Religious and the other Roman/Secular. Rome was the only authority to execute. So, they had to hand Him over to the Romans to get what they wanted. Pilate was in Jerusalem at the time for the Passover celebration. Then Jesus was sent to Herod for questioning. Then back to Pilate for the final hearing and verdict. It was quickly done and through the night and unusual to have the trials through the night with the crucifixion the same day. The accusations were lies and exaggerations, except for One that He was and is The Son of God. There was no blasphemy about it. Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered “Yes, what you say is true!” Pilate had no problem with Jesus. But the council was fierce. They weren’t ...

My Refuge and My Strength

 Scripture For The Day  February 14th, 2024  "My Refuge and My Strength"  Before I even got out of bed this morning I began asking The Lord to help me. I asked Him what the best thing was to do. I told Him that I couldn't do this on my own. What 'this' is doesn't matter. Because every single one of us is struggling with something. A constant prayer should be to pray for each other. There by The Grace of God, go I, is something that stays on my heart. Because no matter what is going on, I know things could always get worse. So, I look for the joy in the moments. I choose to have fun. I choose to celebrate life. I will go down swinging in spite of the 'whatever's' and the 'this's'.  This morning, Psalm 46 is speaking to my heart.
