Luke 8 Part 1

"Somebody Touched Him"

Jesus was preaching and sharing The Good News all throughout every city and village. The twelve disciples were with Him, along with several women healed of evil spirits and sicknesses; Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Susanna, and many others the Bible says. These women worked and did everything they could physically, financially, and spiritually, to help share The Good News of Jesus Christ. According to Galatians 3:28 we are all important to The LORD, male or female, we ARE mankind. Jesus began speaking a parable to the crowd that thronged Him. The parable of the sower. It wasn’t always clear what the parables meant. They were meant to speak to the heart. Even the disciples questioned why He spoke in parables. Jesus told them that to those who believe, who truly seek the Scriptures and desire to know the Will of God it will be easier to understand. But the worldly will stay confused. This parable is this: “The seed is the Word of God. Some hear, but then the devil/sin takes away the word so they won’t believe and be saved. In one ear and out the other. Then you have those on the rock, they hear, they receive it with joy, but it doesn’t take root, for a while they believe but then the temptation of sin overpowers it. They make a superficial commitment to The Lord, but it isn’t real. Then seed falls among the thorns, only to get choked out. They have no fruit. They work for a while and give up.

But on the good ground, having heard The Word, an honest and good heart brings forth fruit with patience. This person received Jesus not only as his/her personal Savior but as his Lord. Loves The Lord with all their heart and soul and mind. No man, when he lights a candle, covers it up, or puts it under his bed. He sets the candle up so that whoever enters the room can see. For nothing is secret, that shall not be known. Nothing is hidden that will not be found. Jesus continues “So take heed, seek the Scriptures for the Truth. Those who carelessly deal with the gospel will have the light removed.’ Those who don’t take their walk with Jesus seriously will eventually forget the Truth that He has taught.

At this point, Jesus’ Mother and family were trying to visit with Jesus but couldn’t get to Him because of the crowds. Someone near Jesus let Him know that His family was there to see Him. and He responded with “My mother and brethren are these which hear the Word of God, and do it.” All believers in Christ are members of the family of God. No certain church name. No certain denomination. Believers in Christ.

If you believe in Jesus, we are Family!
