HE IS HOLY!

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 31, 2022 I recently finished a book by A.W. Tozer; “Knowledge of The Holy”, written in 1920. But the message is more relevant today than it was then. He speaks of the disrespect that people have for God and how some people call themselves by the name of Christ, talk a lot about God, and even pray to God   …sometimes, but in reality, they don’t know Who God is. “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,” but this healing fear is today hardly found among Christian men.” The poet Goeth, back in the early 1800s, shared how appalled he was hearing people abuse the divine name of God. “People treat it”, He said, “as if that incomprehensible and most high Being, Who is even beyond the reach of thought, were only their equal…a barren Name, to which no thought whatever is attached. If they were impressed by His Greatness, they would be dumb, and through veneration unwilling to name Him.” How even more relevant that is today as well. People do ...

Nothing is Too Hard For Jesus

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 30, 2022 A.B. Simpson, a pastor, was approaching middle age. He was broken in health and his spirit became so low that he was ready to quit the ministry. One day he heard a spiritual song…”Nothing is too hard for Jesus, No man can work like Him” He later turned this old spiritual into a hymn. This spiritual message spoke to his heart in a way that he was never the same afterward. He worked for The LORD thirty-five more years after that moment of clarity and then he slipped into a coma and died. Before he did, his last words were to God, praying for the missionaries and others he felt responsible for. His Faith helped him to carry on when his body felt like giving up. “Oft there comes a wondrous message when my hopes are growing dim, I can hear it thro’ the darkness, like some sweet and far-off hymn. Nothing is too hard for Jesus, No man can work like Him; Nothing is too hard for Jesus, No man can work like Him”   I’ve had those moments...

The B.I.B.L.E. Yes, That's The Book For Me

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 29, 2022 "The B.I.B.L.E. Yes, That's The Book For Me"  Yesterday morning, while at the breakfast table, our 6-year-old grandson began quoting scripture he had memorized a while back: “…these that have turned the world upside down are come here also.” I and his grandpa stopped eating and looked at him and I asked where it was from and he said “Acts 17:6”. That spoke so much to his grandpa’s heart that he used that scripture as the basis of his message for Sunday night. It tickled me to no end because I make a point of working with him on memorizing scripture. It’s so important to memorize scripture verses. It’s through His Word we can find comfort and strength and it helps us to grow in faith. It helps us to be able to discern the Voice of Truth against this loud, chaotic, pressuring world. This past Sunday, we gathered back into our individual classes and the first thing I did with my class is implement a bible memory verse plan. Each week t...

I Will Celebrate

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 26, 2022 "I Will Celebrate"  The day that Uzzah was killed, David felt defeated and said ‘forget it, leave the ark. He was frustrated and hurt that God would allow this to happen. He was only trying to do something for The LORD. His intentions were good but he handled it wrong. He didn’t follow through with what The Lord had put in place, and it turned out horribly. After three months of seeking The LORD and hearing of the blessings of the household where the ark resided, David tried again. But this time, he went with an obedient heart. He honored The LORD every step of the way and David rejoiced. He danced with all of his might while the people shouted and trumpets blared.  While entering the city of Jerusalem, Michal, David’s wife and daughter of Saul heard the racket and looked out the window. She was appalled. How could he? There was David dancing before the LORD and she hated him for it. The ark was placed into the tent, the sacr...

More Than a Feeling

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 25, 2022 "More Than a Feeling"  2 Samuel 6  We can get so excited at times, can’t we? We might even be shouting The Lord’s Praises and having a wonderful Worship Service. But, if it isn’t of The Lord, it isn’t of The Lord. It doesn’t matter how excited you might get or how many tingly bumps you get on your arms. It’s not about a ‘feeling’.  David learned a hard lesson after the death of a man named Uzzah.   David was usually faithful seeking The Lord in his decisions. But sometimes, like us, he went with his feelings first. After David began his reign, he wanted to have the Ark of The Lord closer to him in Jerusalem. So, he made plans to have it moved. There is nothing wrong with that in itself. But he failed to seek The LORD first and follow His Word.  God had specific rules in place on how to transport and take care of His Ark. God also, only wanted a certain tribe to be allowed to transport the Ark, to begin with. ...

A Nevertheless Kind of Day

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 24, 2022 A Nevertheless Kind of Day   I can’t help but giggle a bit when I read some smack talk in the Bible. It never fails. There have always been and will always be people that think they are better than others and have nothing to fear from them. When David became king, God told David to take the city of Jerusalem. But the Jebusites, who were arrogant people assumed they had nothing to fear and began taunting the Israelites and mocking David. “You can’t come into our city. Even our blind and crippled people can stop you.” Refer to 2 Samuel 5:6 They felt David was helpless against them. Others had tried to attack them and failed and they would always come back even stronger. But not today… Today was a “Nevertheless” kind of day. Verse 7 “Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion: the same is the city of David” David took the stronghold of Zion. It didn’t matter how strong the enemy thought they were. It didn’t matter how form...

Be Still! Just Wait!!!

Image
Scripture For The Day  August 23, 2022 "Be Still! Just Wait!!!"  David was a teenager when he was Called by God to be the king. He wouldn’t see that calling come to pass until he was 30 years old. Those years in between were good and bad. He struggled. He lived in fear and dread. He hurt. He was confused by how a man he admired would want to kill him so badly. He felt alone many times. He became depressed. But he always turned his heart and focus back to The Lord and was renewed in his heart and soul, knowing that God was with him through it all. When David finally became king, he ruled for forty years. He wasn’t the king that Samuel had expected God to choose. But God looks on the heart and not on the outward appearance. And with God- nothing is impossible. God called a little shepherd boy to be a shepherd over his people. But the time would be in His own timing. Don’t give up on what you feel God has called you to do. This may be the waiting period. Just keep your hea...

Do You? I do!

Image
Scripture For The Day  "Do You? I do!"   August 22 nd , 2022 Maybe it’s because we are getting ready to have our 38 th wedding anniversary, but I have had marriage on my heart lately. I’d be lying if I said that it’s been perfect. We have had ups and downs. We have made good choices and bad choices. But I would marry this man all over again in a heartbeat. I prayed for him before I even met him. I Thank God every day for the Blessings of this man. He means more to me than anyone could ever know, despite his ornery self. We belong. We are quick to forgive and slow to anger.  With all my heart, I truly believe that God needs to be at the center of any relationship to experience what God put together in the first place.    According to research, fifty percent of first marriages end in divorce. Apparently, there is a higher divorce rate among Christians than among non-Christians.  Baptists, according to the research have the highest divorce rate ...

He is With You

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 17, 2022 "He is With You" God said “I am with you… Be Strong!” – fear not – Haggai 2:4, 5 His Spirit remains with us. God gave Haggai a message of encouragement to the people. He encouraged the people to be strong and united in their work for The Lord. They were worrying over their homes and families. They didn’t know how they would make ends meet. They were afraid. Everyone is afraid of something. Everyone struggles. But with The Lord, we don’t have to LIVE in that fear. Fear threatens to knock us down, taking our strength and our peace. Sometimes, to the point that we feel like we are drowning in our worries and frustrations. But over and over again in His Word, He tells us “Do Not Be Afraid” “Be Strong” “Be Courageous”.  Easier said than done at times I know, especially when your worry is for a loved one. But it can still be done.  According to James F. Bell “fear is an insidious virus. Given a breeding place in our minds, it w...

Step Out of Survival Mode

Image
Scripture For The Day   August 16, 2022 "Step Out of Survival Mode"  The recurring discussion lately is Minecraft. I’ve learned more about Minecraft in the last few months than I ever wanted to. But my grandson enjoys it, so I am learning about it.  There are three game modes in Minecraft: Survival, creative, and adventure. As we were traveling to swim lessons a couple of weeks ago, my grandson asked me, “do you know what survival mode is Mamu?” I responded with “Honey, lately, I feel like I am in survival mode every day” His reply? “Yep” There are days when it feels exactly like that. I don’t feel creative. I don’t feel adventurous. I feel like I’m just trying to survive, get the task done in front of me, and move on to the next. Life can be overwhelming, to say the least. But it can also be an adventure. The LORD wants us not only to have life but to have it more abundantly… not just survive, but thrive.  We are on the Greatest adventure but, sadly, we ...
