Blessed Are The Peacemakers

Image
Scripture For The Day  January 31, 2023  "Blessed Are The Peacemakers"  “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” – Matthew 5:9 Oh, those peacemakers. What would we do without them?  I dislike confrontations. If any type of fight would erupt around me when I was a little girl, I would break down in tears. I could feel the anger and sometimes rage and it would tear me up. My hubby has been known to compare me to a character on Star Trek; TNG because I “feel” emotions from others too much. I feel their pain. I feel their anger. I feel their frustrations. I feel their joy.  He has said often that it must be exhausting to be me. Lol and honestly it can be. But what does Jesus say a peacemaker is?   The Greek word for peacemaker in this scripture is found in only ONE other place in the NT; Colossians 1:20. “And having “made peace” through the blood of His Cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they

Blessed Are The Pure In Heart

Image
Scripture For The Day    January 30, 2023  "Blessed Are The Pure in Heart"  Beatitudes continue: I apologize for the interruption. Due to a snowstorm that knocked out our electricity I wasn’t able to use my laptop or post and had to conserve the battery on my phone. For those not from here, we are forecasted to have an ice storm this week, so we may or may not lose power again, that’s not my business. But wanted to let you know in case our study gets interrupted again. I hope you are enjoying digging deeper into The Word of God as I am. We are truly BLESSED!   “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” – Matthew  5-8   Pure? Whew! That’s a tough one. Let’s begin with the Greek word for “pure”. It is katharos. Kataros means to be clean, blameless, guiltless. Wow! Can you describe yourself as blameless? Or clean? It also refers to purifying things by fire as well as by pruning. I love The Word of God. Our God is so poetic and I have always loved poetry. Th

Blessed Are The Merciful

Scripture For The Day   January 24, 2023   “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy” – Matthew 5:7   Great Blessings belong to those who show mercy to others.   MERCY – to show forgiveness and compassion. God’s Word speaks often about mercy. We are Blessed when we are merciful, after all, that is One of The Heavenly Father’s Characteristics. He has every right and all the authority to punish us for our sins. Yet, He grants us mercy when we seek forgiveness. We are forgiven and with that forgiveness, we are commanded to forgive others. We are commanded to show love and mercy to others. The other person may not deserve our mercy, just like we don’t deserve The mercy of God. But we are required to have mercy for others. We are to show God’s Love to everyone. When we make a point of walking in the footsteps of Christ we will have that desire to be more like Him. We might get frustrated. We might get angry. We might get worn out. But we can begin again and show mercy a

Blessed Are They Which Hunger and Thirst After Righteousness

Image
Scripture For The Day    January 23, 2023   “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” – Matthew 5:6   Great Blessings belong to those who want to do right more than anything else. Besides, being an initial conviction of accepting Jesus into our hearts,  It’s also a deep desire to please The Lord. We fail time and time again because we are human and we are not perfect. But with Jesus in our hearts, we have the ability with the conviction and encouragement, and guidance of The Holy Spirit to lead a life that is pleasing to The Lord. Every day is a new beginning. It’s not about rules and regulations. It’s about choosing to do what’s right to honor Him.  Jesus’ Sermon continues with wise advice for living as a true disciple of Christ. Each one is linked together. Have you noticed how everything always goes back to our hearts? Not the physical, beating organ that resides in our body. But our mindset, our emotional core, our essence. It

Blessed Are The Meek

Image
Scripture For the Day  January 20, 2023   “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”- Matthew 5:5   So far we have studied – Great Blessings belong to those who know they are spiritually in need and humble themselves. Great Blessings belong to those who are sad and grieve over their sin and repent for The Holy Spirit will comfort them. Today we study being meek. Psalm 37:11 tells us the same thing “But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”  We can have JOY by being meek. Again, this is spiritual prosperity, a spiritual point of view. Not about earthly happiness. The Greek word that meek is translated refers to mildness, gentleness of the spirit, in other words again humility. Fruit of the Spirit at its finest. This meekness is not about just being humble towards others but towards God. It’s about getting out of the way and letting Him guide us. It’s about having the ability and the right to do something bu

Blessed Are They That Mourn

Image
Scripture For The Day  January 19th, 2023    Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5: 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.  Matthew 5: 4  Oh my, even though this scripture doesn't mean what we first think, it still hit home for me when I began to study it. I have had so much difficulty in praying for Peace lately. I know that God’s Peace passes all human understanding. But the loss of such a dear friend, who was nearly family has shaken me to the core and I have struggled with praying for peace. Because how can there be any peace in this situation?  I have prayed for comfort and strength for my friends and loved ones. But Peace? It’s been difficult.     Even though He will bring comfort to those who Love Him who are struggling with grief and hurt,  the Beatitudes go much deeper than what we first believe.  That's God's Word. We should never pull the scriptures out of context to make ourselves feel better without fully und

Blessed Are The Poor in Spirit

Image
Scripture For The Day   January 18 th , 2023  "Blessed Are The Poor in Spirit"  January 18 th , 2023 Jesus saw the crowds of people there, waiting for Him, so He went up a hill and sat down. The disciples came and sat down next to Him. Then Jesus began teaching the people. He brought a message in that Sermon on The Mount that is better known as The Beatitudes- The Blessings. These Blessings are offered to those who strive to live their lives drawing closer to The Lord.  They refer to the spiritual well-being of a Child of God that keeps focused on JESUS> And with a heart that stays focused on JESUS comes Blessings upon Blessings.    Matthew 5 Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy. Who Are My Brothers and Sisters?

Image
Scripture For The Day  January 17, 2023 "Who Are My Brothers and Sisters?"    Who are my brothers and sisters? According to Jesus in Mark 3:32-35, He explains to us, ' Whoever does the Will of God, is my brother, and sister, and mother”. He wasn’t saying that our biological families were unimportant. He was letting us know that a spiritual bond, a spiritual relationship is stronger than anything else. This is not based on membership to a specific church, but on a true believer in JESUS CHRIST.  Those of us who have truly accepted JESUS Christ into our hearts recognize that we need a Savior. We need His Grace. We need His Mercy. We need His Precious Blood Atonement. We are all messed up and need help. A cry for forgiveness and acceptance leads to adoption into the Family of God. We are His Children. Blood is thicker than water- The Blood of Jesus, that is. With that Promise, comes responsibility towards each other. Pray for each other, care for each other, and forgive ea

Wash All Of Me, LORD!

Image
Scripture For The Day  January 13th, 2023  "Wash All of Me, LORD"    If anyone that walked upon this earth had a right to be arrogant it was Jesus. But He chose to be humble. He chose to be kind. He chose to love. But at the same time, He stood up for The Truth, never backing down, even though He knew it would make some people angry. He had a job to do. He was about His Father’s Business. In John 13:1-5 we read that Jesus knew His time on earth was coming to an end. He loved the people then. He loves the people now and He will love the people tomorrow. But when He willingly sacrificed Himself, He showed His Love the most on that horrific day. The Father had given Jesus power over everything. Just another scripture to show that Jesus was and is The Son of God. So one evening while Jesus and His crew were eating, He stood up and took off His robe. He got a towel and wrapped it around His waist. He poured water into a bowl and began to wash their feet. He finished up by drying t

"It's All Mine! Mine, Mine, Mine"

Image
Scripture For The Day    January 12, 2023 "Mine, Mine, Mine"    “Mine, mine, mine”- I know it won’t be long until I hear those words from our youngest grandson. It always reminds me of Daffy Duck claiming possession. Children learn quickly to stake out their own territories. Yet, they also have no qualms with taking something that belongs to someone else and then, again, becoming territorial over that item that doesn’t even belong to them. “Mine, mine, mine” Grownups can be like that as well. Quick to take over and Quick to claim authority when no authority has been given. It can be frustrating, to say the least. Especially when others encourage their behavior. They push others aside as they proudly boast of all the things they do claiming the Name of The Lord. Mine, Mine, Mine. Our baby grandson is already testing boundaries to see what he can get away with. Everything will eventually become ‘mine’ until he learns that everything is not about him and does NOT belong to him

Extra Baggage

Image
Scripture For The Day  January 11th, 2023  "Extra Baggage"  A message brought by my own preacherman Sunday Night keeps staying on my heart: “Extra Baggage” Not extra baggage as in luggage or fat. But baggage as in discouragement, worry, loneliness, depression, dissatisfaction, confusion, temptation, anger, fear, condemnation, feeling unwanted, and not quite good enough. NOISE!! It feels like the world is turned up so loud that it’s difficult to hear That Still Small Voice of The LORD. The enemy is keeping us busy. The enemy is keeping us distracted. The enemy is whispering to our hearts deception in the disguise of something good. The enemy is keeping us bogged down with worry and depression and our weak flesh is giving in to all of it by keeping us from what we truly need to be doing. NOISE!!! We need to get back to His Word. How much darkness does it take to dispel light? A small, weak, teeny, tiny light will still shine in a room full of darkness. Darkness can not and will

"Train Up A Child"

Image
Scripture For The Day  January 10th, 2023  "Train Up A Child"    Sixteen years ago, we began attending a country church down the road. We immediately felt like we belonged. I was Blessed with getting to teach several of their children in PreK, years prior. I have watched their children grow and those children getting married and having babies of their own and then watching those children grow as well. Our own daughter got married there. My grandsons got dedicated there. My husband was ordained there. I have held different positions there but the most precious position is teaching and I take it seriously.   God’s Word tells me that I will be held to a higher accountability and honestly, that’s frightening.   I love my church family. When one of them does something good I teasingly claim ‘That’s because I was their Prek teacher or Sunday School teacher’. 😊 This past Sunday I found myself leading a belated Children’s Christmas program. It was short but oh so sweet. It reminded
