Your Loving Kindness is Precious

Image
Scripture For The Day   November 30, 2023 "Your Loving Kindness is Precious"   Psalm 36- This psalm shares the Faithfulness of God. Deep in the hearts of a wicked person, there is a voice that tells them to do wrong. There is no fear or respect for God. The Bible tells us that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. It’s not a relationship based on “fear”. But a relationship rooted in a healthy dose of Respect for an Almighty Creator Who loves us so much that He sent His ONLY Begotten Son to save us. It’s a Relationship, not a religion. But an evil person/unbeliever will flatter himself in his own eyes. They don’t see their faults. So they aren’t sorry for what they do. I am the worst at blaming myself for everything that goes wrong. I question if I could have handled it better or for any misunderstandings etc. So, it blows my mind when others don’t even seem to acknowledge their own failures or mistakes in bad situations. It's always someone else's fault.

"Judge Me According To Thy Righteousness"

Image
Scripture For The Day   November 29, 2023 "Judge Me According To Thy Righteousness" Psalm 35 is a broken cry for help from David over being falsely accused. It can be frustrating when you are accused of something you haven’t done or even plan on doing. David was at his wit's end. He needed encouragement and deliverance. He needed God’s Righteous Judgment. I can just read the angst and brokenness in his words. “Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me:” LORD, oppose those who oppose me. Fight those who fight me.  Pick up your shield and buckler and stand up for me. Take out your spear and stop those who persecute me.  speak unto my soul “I will Rescue You. I am Your Salvation” Confuse those who are after me. Turn them back in their confusion. Disappoint them. Make them be like chaff that blows in the wind. ( chaff is the husks of corn or some other seed that gets separated by threshing… the trash or worthless things) Let them be chased by the angel of The

Bless The LORD at ALL Times

Image
Scripture For The Day   November 28, 2023 "Bless The LORD at All Times"  Psalm 34- another acrostic psalm. For historical reference, it goes along with 1 Samuel 21-22. “I will Bless The LORD at all times: His Praise shall continually be in my mouth.” -Psalm 34:1. David struggled quite a bit, with circumstances, with depression, with people who were against him. But it didn’t stop The LORD from using David. He gave David the gift to write and David wrote many songs that were used for generations and probably still today. Not everyone wanted to listen. Not everyone cared. But as long as He was doing what The LORD called him to do; that’s what mattered. Continually He Blessed The LORD with Praises- in the good and the bad. Humble people will listen and be glad.  My soul shall boast in The LORD. Prideful people will not get it. O magnify The LORD with me, and let us exalt His Name together. That’s what it’s about. Praising God! Not people! David shares his desperation; I so

My Strength Comes from The LORD

Image
Scripture For The Day   November 27, 2023 "My Strength Comes From The LORD"  Psalm 33 is a call to Praise. I’m so thankful for His Word which gives me comfort and strength. My soul is so weary this morning. So, Let us Rejoice in The LORD this morning. And Be strengthened through Him.   Rejoice in the LORD, good people, O ye righteous; for it is only right for the good people to stand up and Praise Him.  Praise Him with music. Praise Him with singing. God’s Word speaks often of praising God with music; instruments and singing. “Sing unto Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.” A new song; a fresh Praise to God. It should never be about entertainment or wanting applause. Praise should always come from the heart. He doesn’t even mind if it’s a bit loud. Why should we Praise Him? Verse 4 begins by telling us that The LORD's Word is True and He is Faithful in everything He does. He alone is Worthy to be Praised. He is The Goodness. He is Justice. His Love is

Rejoice in Forgiveness

Image
Scripture For The Day  November 26th, 2023  "Rejoice in Forgiveness"    Psalm 32 describes perfectly how Blessed the gift of forgiveness is.   I had a person ask me once why I keep forgiving those who hurt me.   I told them because that is what The LORD wants me to do. Forgive as He has forgiven me. I’ve never understood grudges and the lack of forgiveness breaks my heart. As an adult and as a king, David made some bad choices. Some very bad choices. The title of this chapter includes Maschil, which is a technical term describing what type of psalm or poem this was meant to be; contemplative. Think about it; deeply.  David begins by describing how Blessed it is to be forgiven for the wrongs that we do. God can and will erase those wrongs for a penitent heart. He creates a Clean slate.  A begin again moment. Sadly, people generally won’t forgive the way that The LORD forgives. David goes on “When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.” Let us n

Be of Good Courage

Image
Scripture For The Day  November 25, 2023 "Be of Good Courage!"  In Psalm 31,  David covers it all. It includes his problems, his prayers, and his praises. Life is like that. Filled with good days and bad days. But every day should be filled with the Praises of our God. We will make mistakes. Sometimes, big mistakes. At least I do. But every day is a new day to begin again and seek Him in every decision. Be of Good Courage! “In Thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in Thy Righteousness.” Lord, I come to you for protection. Listen to me. Come quickly. Be my Rock and place of safety. For I know that YOU are my Rock and my Fortress. Lead me and guide me. Save me from the traps that the enemy sets out for me. I put my life into Your Hands. You have seen my suffering. You know all about my troubles. Your Mercy and Kindness make me happy. David goes on to further seek The LORD for deliverance and safety. Verses 16-17 share Aaron’s benediction from

Don't Be Silent! Give Thanks To God!

Image
Scripture For The Day  “ November 23, 2023 "Don't Be Silent! Give Thanks to God!"   Psalm 30- A Pledge of Praise for the dedication of the house of David (which may be about the dedication of The Temple) - Whatever the case may be, how fitting for Thanksgiving Day! “I will extol Thee, O LORD; for Thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.” LORD, You have lifted me out of troubles. My enemies have no reason to laugh. I will Praise You. I called out to You and You healed me. LORD, You have kept me alive. Sing unto The LORD, all ye saints of His, and GIVE THANKS to Him, The Only One Worthy of Praise.  His anger lasts only but a moment. He is quick to forgive. Trials and Tribulations will come in this life and it may seem like the darkness will never lift. But just like the darkness in the night, the sun will rise again…joy will come in the morning. And in my prosperity, I said, I shall never be moved. I thought nothing could hurt me. But th

Give God The Glory

Image
Scripture For The Day  November 22, 2023 "Give God The Glory"  The Power of God never ceases to amaze me. Nothing is impossible for Him. But yet, there are times we think circumstances are far beyond His Reach. That’s the enemy spewing lies again. Psalm 29 has David opening up a call for Praise to The LORD and describes the infinite power, the Divine Power of God. “Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD Glory and Strength…” What can a poor man bring to a king… nothing except himself and Praise. There is nothing we can give God, besides ourselves. He alone is worthy to be Praised. He speaks to us through His Creation. His Voice is often associated with the sound of thunder. But also, with the still small Voice in the wind. The sea obeys His Voice and one day the rocks will cry out. His Voice is powerful beyond anything we can imagine. His Voice has all authority. Then why oh why do we choose to listen to the voice of the enemy?   David goes on in severa

LORD Lift Us Up

Image
Scripture For The Day    November 21, 2023 "LORD Lift Us Up"  Psalm 28 is yet another prayer by David asking The LORD for deliverance. The LORD is my Rock. Unto Thee will I cry. Be not silent to me. David cries out once again to The LORD for help. He knows Who The LORD is. He knows He can Trust Him. He is our Rock. David pleads with The LORD to answer back. There are times I feel like I will stop breathing unless I hear The LORD speaking to my heart. And the best place to hear His Voice is away from all the chaos and noise of the world. Hear my voice… David cries out. “when I lift up my hands toward Thy Holy Oracle” Simply put this is a matter of heart surrender…sincere prayer. David goes on “Draw me not away with the wicked…” Don’t count me with the wicked ones who are secretly out to hurt others. They don’t care what The LORD says. Blessed be The LORD!!! David’s prayers were heard. The LORD hears our prayers also. The LORD is my Strength and my Shield…and with my song

The LORD is My Strength

Image
Scripture For The Day    November 20, 2023 The LORD is My Strength Psalm 27:1 is one of my favorite memory verses. “The LORD is my Light and Salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the Strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Jesus Christ is THE Light! With Jesus in our hearts, we have That Full Light and Light repels darkness. When the wicked try to eat my flesh, they stumble and fall. The enemy is destructive and vicious. David acknowledged that with The LORD he was confident in a victorious outcome. One thing David desired was that he would be able to dwell in the house of The LORD all his days. This is the desire of all believers. Within the safe arms of God, we are protected. Trouble comes and trouble goes. But we can find strength in the midst of the troubles with The LORD> Our security is in The LORD. Storms will come but we will Not be moved. Whatever happens let us sing and Praise The LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me and

On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand

Image
Scripture For The Day    November 17, 2023 On Christ T he  Solid Rock I Stand  A Song of David- Psalm 26 – David was being falsely accused. Ugh! I hate it when people get the wrong end of the stick and run with the rumor mill. It’s frustrating when you can’t tell your side of the story, or when people refuse to listen to The Truth. David kept defending himself, not out of pride but out of righteousness. Once again, He seeks The LORD for deliverance and promises to give God ALL The Glory! LORD, You be the Judge over me and prove my innocence in this situation. Examine me, test me and try me. Look closely at my heart. I depend on Your Faithfulness. You are ever Loving. I don’t run around with troublemakers. I have nothing to do with dissemblers (hypocrites). I loathe being around evil people and I refuse to join in with them. LORD, I wash my hands of any guilt, so I can come to Your Altar. I Praise You with a voice of thanksgiving and tell everyone about Your Wondrous Works. LORD, I

He Will Never Disappoint

Image
Scripture For The Day  November 16, 2023 "He Will Never Disappoint"  David needs deliverance from his enemies and needs forgiveness from God. – Psalm 25 is an acrostic Hebrew Psalm; meaning that the verses are arranged according to the Hebrew alphabet. O my God, I put my trust in You and I know You won’t let me down. My enemies may laugh at me. But no one who Trusts You will ever be disappointed. My disappointment comes from those who try to deceive me. (David is speaking to my heart this morning.  People wear me out and people will let us down) But not God. LORD, show me Your ways. Teach me Your paths. Show me how You want me to live. (Yes, LORD) You are my God, My Savior. Remember, O LORD, Your tender love and mercy. Don’t remember the sins of my past. You are So Good, LORD, instead remember me with Your Faithful Love. The LORD is Good and Just. He shows us how to live. He teaches us how to be humble. He leads us with fairness and The LORD is kind and true to those

Who Is This King of Glory?

Image
Scripture For The Day   November 15, 2023 "Who Is This King of Glory?"  David may have written Psalm 24 after the retrieval of the Covenant of The Ark and placed it in Jerusalem. It’s a Song of Worship/ He is The Creator of it all and Worthy to be Praised. The earth and everything on it belong to The LORD. He built the earth on the water. “And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters…” Gen 1:6 Who shall ascend unto the hill of The LORD? Who can go up The LORD’s mountain?. Who can stand in His Holy Temple? Only the pure in heart. Only those who continue to seek His Face will be Blessed. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; Be lifted up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of Glory shall come in. The entrance of The Ark going into the Tabernacle was called “The coming in of the King of Glory”. Only He was Worthy enough to enter in. But when Jesus was crucified on The Cross; the veil was torn in two. When He ascended He resumed His seat on the right hand of

He Restores My Soul

Image
Scripture For The Day    November 14, 2023 "He Restores My Soul"  Psalm 23- Most of us know this beloved Psalm. The LORD is our Shepherd and we who believe are His Sheep. However in recent years, the label of ‘sheep’ has become a derogatory term. I don’t care. I am so very thankful that I am part of His flock. So, Baa Baa baby. Call me a sheep. I know that I matter to Him just as much as the other sheep in His flock. No more, no less. In His Word, His people are never described as lions. But as meek and dependent sheep that depend upon a Shepherd. I’ll take that any day. Because it’s The Truth. I learned this passage when I was a little girl. But no one took the time to teach me what it meant. So, I was always confused by the first verse” “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Why? I would ask The LORD? Why can’t I ‘want’ You? I Love You and I do ‘want’ You to be with me. It wasn’t until I was much older and studying on my own that I discovered the word ‘want” meant

Aijeleth Shahar

Image
Scripture For The Day  November 13 th , 2023 "Aijeleth Shahar"  Psalm 22 has David assigning this song to the director of the corporate worship stating it is to be sung or chanted by “Aijeleth Shahar” translated means by the hind of the dawn or “The Deer of The Dawn”. Made me think of how sometimes there are little songs for kids to learn and they often use the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” for them to learn them better. Psalm 22 is a cry of anguish and as per usual a song of Praise. And by the very first verse, we can read words that Jesus Christ, Himself, spoke on The Cross. Jesus often quoted scriptures.  “My God, My God, why hast Thou Forsaken Me? (why art thou so) far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?” You have no idea how deeply this verse spoke to me today. I woke up early this morning thinking of the word Forsake. So, as I type I am asking The LORD, “What are you bringing to my heart today?” to forsake means to abandon or turn against. Mak
Scripture For The Day   November 10, 2023 "Lord, We Lift Your Name On High"  Psalm 20 and 21 go together. So, let’s study it that way. Psalm 20 is more than likely before a battle, while Psalm 21 is celebrating a victory after the battle. They are battle songs. They are also messianic, in which they foretell a coming king and deliverer; Jesus Christ. David prayed to The LORD, seeking Victory in the upcoming battle. May The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble…We are able to go to God anytime, anywhere. He is ever Faithful and True. David is expecting Victory and already planning the celebration. He reminds his people and us that we can Trust The LORD. He will hear our cries. When others trust in their equipment, we Trust in The LORD> Something happened the other day that I was not expecting to happen. And all I could think of afterwards was ‘Why am I so surprised? The LORD has the power to do anything. How could I ever doubt His Power?” He is so Good All The Time and

Let The Words of My Mouth

Scripture For The Day  November 9, 2023 "Let The Words of My Mouth"  Psalm 19 is a testimony of how the entire universe testifies of a Divine Creator. Men have searched the skies for stars, and the more they search, the more they find. It seems to be endless. Each new day is a continued declaration of the Glory of God. There is no place where The Glory of God cannot be seen. Even in its silence, His creation testifies of Him. God’s Word is perfect. His Word gives strength. We can trust in His Word. His Word helps us grow. His Word is worth more than pure gold. His Word is sweeter than honey.  Good things come to those who obey His Word.   Vs 14 is a verse that my husband learned as a child in Bible school one summer. This one verse has stuck with him his entire life and it speaks to my heart quite often. “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my Redeemer” Lord, help us today to be mindful of t

A Song of Thanksgiving

Scripture For The Day    November 8, 2023 "A Song Of Thanksgiving"  Psalm 18 is a song that David sang to The LORD when The LORD saved him from the wrath of Saul. It’s a long song. It’s the longest we have studied so far in the Psalms with 50 verses.              It's a song of thanksgiving. I will love thee; O Lord my strength. David is invoking a strong emotion and devotion to the Lord. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God my strength in whom I will trust. My buckler and the horn of my salvation and my high tower. David uses military metaphors to relate to a tough battle and the armor used to protect. I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised so shall I be safe for my enemies. The sorrows of death compassed me and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. In my distress, I called upon the Lord and cried unto my God. He heard my voice out of His Temple and my cry came before Him even into His ears. The Earth began to shake and trembl
